Kitchen gardening is a great way for kids to learn about nature, horticulture and nutrition while enjoying time outdoors. Let the cheerful Pied Piper of the Phantom gardens, Abbey Hart lead young ones on a season-spanning adventure of growing their own food. Participants will begin in April, planting lettuces and a pole bean tepee. Return in late May to enjoy a salad party and put in the next round of crops – tomatoes, zukes and cukes, cheerful sunflowers and more. The workshop will wrap up in August with more harvesting and sampling. Along the way, they’ll take home seedlings for their own yards, and learn important lessons about organic methods, composting, even participate in a ladybug release! Sign up the youngsters in your life and jump start a lifetime of gardening. 3 Saturdays - sign up for one or all! April 17, May 22 & August 21 from 11-12:30 This workshop is recommended for kids ages 6-11, and has a limited enrollment. The fee is $20 per session, $45 for all three, and includes all materials and instruction.

A delight for tea lovers, this affair features a variety of homemade finger sandwiches, cakes, cookies and other treats.  The afternoon also includes a tour of the mansion and sneak preview of Wilderstein's 2010 exhibit.

Wilderstein was the home of Margaret (Daisy) Suckley, a cousin and confidante of Franklin Roosevelt.  Many Rhinebeck residents have fond memories of having tea with Miss Suckley at Wilderstein.

Scheduled on the early side for high tea, this allows more time for taking in Wilderstein's remarkable Hudson River views and strolling the enchanted Calvert Vaux designed landscape while the daffodils are in bloom.

Saturday, April 17 at 1pm.

What is the State of Local Food?

You are invited to be a part of the inaugural live webcast event:
The State of [Local] Food, a live webcast featuring moderated talks with local green food producers, as well as social networking over food and drinks -- but it's not just about what you eat... The event is sponsored by Glynwood, and Glynwood's President, Judith LaBelle will speak about The State of [Local] Food and how everything we do affects everything we do!

Based in Putnam County, Glynwood identifies their mission as helping communities in the Northeast save farming. Their unique niche is to empower communities to support farming and conserve farmland, while also working their own land to demonstrate the economic viability of environmentally sustainable agriculture.

In keeping with Glynwood's mission, Hudson Valley residents who are engaged in our local food production like farmers using sustainable practices, CSA operators, seed producers and land stewards, will be introducing themselves on-camera and will talk about their local efforts.

The greater Green Drinks community has been invited to join us on May 12th and several chapters have already shown their support! To see a list of the chapters involved, to RSVP to be there in person, to sign up for an email reminder to watch online, go to the live webcast's homepage at: http://hvgreendrinks.org/livewebcast.html

The Rhinecliff Hotel
4 Grinnell Street
Rhinecliff, NY

Doors open for networking: 6:30pm
Presentation: 7:45pm
